On
accepting WordSmitten's TenTen Award for Fiction:
Thank you so much for choosing And
This One is Just Right as
the winning story in this year's 1010 contest.
I'm delighted to accept the award.
I've
always written stories, but until recently have been too neurotic
to submit them to contests. The 1010, with
its set length limit, provided the perfect opportunity to dash
off a story, and somehow, the structure inspired me in such a
way that my story instantly arrived full-formed in my brain. Thank
you for introducing me to Maureen, Angela and Kevin. I think they
will end up in the middle of a larger story at some point in the
near future.
For the past two weeks, I've been healing from a tonsillectomy,
and muttering irritably to myself. This was exactly what I needed
to recover completely and get back to the computer!
